Meet New Zealander Scott Tucker. Kite boarder, surfer, swimmer, sun
lover and inventor of L'omo.
As many New Zealanders do, Scott travels a lot. And a lot of the
time he’s on his own. And that’s what got him thinking.
“It
all started when I was relaxing at a hotel pool in Florida, on
my own with no way of getting sunscreen lotion on to that impossible
to reach part between my shoulder blades,” recalls Scott. “Having
lost an uncle to skin cancer I'm very aware of the dangers of the
sun. The trouble is my favourite leisure pursuits mean getting
out into the rays. I made enquiries about things for getting sunscreen
on to backs, but nothing was any good.
“When I returned to New
Zealand I worked on the problem - coming up with the idea for L’omo,
which with the collaboration of the Cancer Society of New Zealand I
was able to take through to production.”
Subsequently the L'omo sunscreen lotion applicator has been tried and
tested under the harsh New Zealand sun by the inventor himself and
thousands of fellow Kiwis.
